The Association of BellTel Retirees has partnered with Retirees for Justice and is providing a series of grants to Retirees for Justice to support advocacy efforts for state and federal legislation protecting the earned benefits of current and future retirees.
The Association of BellTel Retirees is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the pensions and benefits for all retirees and the current and future beneficiaries of the companies derived from the original Bell System. The union and management members of the Association of BellTel Retirees have banded together to fight for hundreds of thousands in the retiree and active employee community. The Association currently advocates on behalf of former union and management retirees from Bell Atlantic, NYNEX, GTE, MCI, Idearc, and Verizon and also represents active employees regarding retiree issues.
The Association of BellTel Retirees aggressively pursues protection for pensions and group annuities through congressional action and passage of legislation. The Association of BellTel Retirees is celebrating its 25th Anniversary this year. As one of the most successful retiree activist organization in the country, over the past 20 years the BellTel Retirees have led multiple successful shareowner proxy victories at Verizon, have been instrumental in eleven changes in corporate governance, and took two cases to the steps of the Supreme Court.
